What's the best advice you ever received from mom?
Veronica Swanson Beard: Be grateful for everything and everyone who helps us through life. Live in the moment. We all rush to get things done or check off the list. My mom reminds me to enjoy the ride—it goes quickly. 
Veronica Miele Beard: Be an individual. 

What were your Mother's Day traditions growing up?
VMB: No activities! 
VSB: Breakfast, out, spoil mom rotten all day. 

And traditions you've introduced with your own kids? 
VSB: Same. :) 
VMB: No activities! 

Dream gift?
VMB: Sleep. 
VSB: From my kids: letting me sleep in and not fighting all day. From my husband: sunset cruise on our boat. 

And for mom?
VSB: A copy of one of the portraits my sister Claiborne Swanson Frank took of me and my kids for her book, Mother and Child. 
VMB: The same—sleep!
