Behind the Scenes

The VB Madison Reopening

Breaking news: VB Madison is reopened!

After undergoing a complete transformation and expansion over the summer, the newly reimagined 988 Madison opens its doors today. And while it offers the VIP shopping experience that is signature at all of our stores—including one-on-one personal styling, gift concierge and more—VB Madison is one-of-a-kind when it comes to its look and feel. The iconic flagship has doubled in size and been entirely refurbished.

Here, we got the inside scoop from resident VB interior designer Carolina de Neufville.

THE APPROACH

The store interiors have been reimagined to reflect the scale and grandeur of the now 6,192-square-foot space. We enlisted architect Anderson Kenny to create a spare but sophisticated environment with elevated architectural features. “We worked with Anderson to bring residential architectural details into the store,” says de Neufville. “The moldings, the ceilings—it’s very luxurious, personal and intimate.”

THE FURNISHINGS

Awash in white, beige and gold tones, the boutique reflects a refined restraint—a sensibility that allows the product to shine.  Papered in Sisal grasscloth, the store is filled with brass-and-glass Mastercraft furniture from the Seventies. A crystal and amethyst chandelier, sourced from Carlos de la Puente Antiques, casts a warm glow over a Romeo Rega octagonal table at the entrance. The seating area is anchored by a gleaming coffee table, layered over a custom jute rug by artisan Nitika Moran.
