Sarah Wragge, CEO of Sarah Wragge WellnessQ&A
Throughout my teenage years and well into my twenties, I was always hungry. I always thought about food, it was a constant conversation in my head. It was all-consuming and made me always feel like I was out of control. Once I figured out that blood sugar balance was the secret to sustained energy, weight management and mood stabilization, I used that as the basis for The SWW Method™.
What are three small wellness changes someone can make that will have big results?
1. Drink a liter of water after waking up. Our bodies are 60% water, and water is responsible for every process that happens in the body. You want to aim for 3-4 liters throughout the day, so by getting 1 first thing in the morning, you're well on your way!
2. Alkalize. The human body is alkaline by design, but acidic by function. Most of the things that we love are acidic: coffee, alcohol, sugar, refined carbohydrates… It's fine to have these things occasionally but if consumed consistently, we become bloated and sluggish. There are also specific foods that help you maintain an alkaline state and have added health benefits.
3. Consider meal timing. Meeting your health and weight-loss goals isn't about eating less, it's about eating less often. We do not need to eat every two hours. If you are hungry that often, that tells me you're spiking your blood sugar when you're making your meal choices. When you choose protein, fat and fiber you should be able to coast 4-5 hours between meals and have sustained energy. No more midafternoon slumps!
I am big into fitness. I love to move my body and feel connected to my breath. Besides fitness, time with my family really fills me up. Those micro moments—where my kindergarten son shares a story about something that happened at school or my one-and-a-half-year-old daughter counts numbers in the wrong order and makes us laugh—is what it's really all about.
Yes! I work with Cayli Cavaco Reck and her team at Knockout Beauty. She has introduced me to Environ products and they are all gamechangers. I would say the C-Quence Serum 1 is my favorite. I put it on after my facewash and toner, and before my moisturizer.
A combination of strength-training and Pilates. Building and maintaining muscle is imperative to metabolic health, weight management and longevity. Lengthening and stretching is key.
Alkalize. Eat plants. Take a break from protein for a day or two. Make The SWW Alkalizer Smoothie and drink that all day until dinner. It's a great way to reset and refresh.
Balance that blood sugar with The SWW Plate™. Eat in this order: veggies first, then protein, then carbs last if you are still hungry (but I bet you won't be).
Drink a liter of water with greens powder, then black coffee. Feed the kiddies breakfast, and do school drop off. Move my body. Make the SWW Smoothie, and start work....
