The rise measures the distance from the crotch seam to the top of the waistband, determining where the jean sits on your torso.

"Fantastic fall pants! They are a great color and texture, and love the look. I am 5’9” and slender, but it took a little bit of a wiggle to pull them up over my hips. Once in place they are great, but wondered if a hidden side zipper might make it easier for the on and off. That is the only reason for not 5 stars. Length was perfect for me."

"I bought these pants to wear with a denim shirt that has the same ochre color suede collar and cuffs. Beautiful cords for fall and winter and the size XS is perfect for me. I'm 5'4"" and 108 lbs. The only reason I gave 4 stars is because they are hard to pull up over my hips, which are only 32""! I'll manage but I agree with the other reviewer that a side zipper would be a big improvement."
