We've always loved his bright, bold and humorous take on the fashion world and are so excited to add his stamp to some of our favorite pieces. Tell us about your work as an artist…How did you get started?

Shameless plug! I have a new book out today (!!) by Assouline called DONALD The Book (I know, I know bad title) and it goes into gory detail of my journey as a not starving artist.

Where do you look for inspiration?

I have five kids and a fashion-y wife, they all tell me about stuff. I've also been around for a while, so I have a ton of comrades doing cool things! I rarely am not inspired by all this and then there is Instagram-land!!

Why is it important to have a sense of humor in the fashion industry?

Laughing is très chic! Non? (Jerry Lewis RIP)

The one art supply you can’t live without?

Gaffer tape!

Your favorite piece in the Veronica Beard x Donald Robertson collection?

My wife was tearing out of the house for school pick up in these jeans with red stripes down the sides…I like those. I did a painting of them!
