Payroll Specialist

The Role:

The Payroll Specialist is responsible for coordinating and processing all payroll. This role is based out of our New York City corporate office reporting to the Financial Manager.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Performs all functions required to process the bi-weekly payroll including auditing timecards and coordinating with Human Resources
  • Processing multi jurisdiction payroll, including Canada and UK
  • Preparing journal entries to record payroll to G/L
  • Commissions calculations
  • Serve as a resource for payroll related issues to resolve grievances or pay discrepancies with employees, HR, legal, accounting, benefits, or government agencies
  • Support year end processing and special projects including internal and external audits relating to payroll
  • Ability to drive ownership of their area of responsibility to consistently meet deadlines

 

Requirements:

  • 3-5+ years of payroll experience preferred
  • Experience with high volume payroll
  • Knowledgeable about federal and state payroll regulations and requirements
  • Proficient in Payroll software ADP Workforce (Canada and UK ADP experience preferred)
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or Accounting preferred
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification a plus
  • Highly motivated, self-starter who can work independently with minimal supervision

 

The base salary range for this role is between $65,000 and $75,000. The relevant base salary will vary depending on wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training, degrees, and certifications. The base salary is just one component of our total compensation offerings, which consist of a comprehensive benefits package as well as a short-term incentive program, clothing allowance, and merchandise discounts.
