Decor Tips

5 quick recs, straight from VB Houston

DEBUG: core/paragraph

Hello, Houston! We've opened up a new store at River Oaks, our second in the state after Dallas. To mark the occasion, we're going to reveal how to get the lush, lived-in vibe of our decor, from VB interior designer Carolina de Neufville. It's something we always get asked—in stores, on Instagram—so we're serving it up to you, right here, in five easy steps.

1. We love to scour Chairish, 1stDibs and local vintage dealers for great finds that are truly one of a kind. In Houston, we went to Memorial Antiques & Interiors, a.k.a. MAI, and Back Row Home.

2. Upholster a sofa with a fabric that speaks to your design taste. For Houston, we chose to upholster our vintage McGuire sofa in Schumacher’s fuchsia Nymphaea fabric, with self-welt cording in a solid velvet fuchsia.

3. Find a coffee table that adds dimension, and add coffee-table books and a great planter. The one in Houston is a tessellated stone table that comes in different shades of pink—which ties back to our brand DNA while being a pop of fun that's not too overwhelming.

4. Don't forget the coffee-table books! We always love the ones by Assouline: Bals: Legendary Costume Balls of the Twentieth Century, Swans, Legends of the Jet Society, The Big Book of Chic… Include a great planter, too, for a touch of green.

5. Always add art! We love this Summer Garden painting by Grace B. Keogh because of the rich colors and the Texas bluebells—it brings the whole space together.
