The Entrepreneur Issue

November is National Entrepreneur Month and we're celebrating by shining a spotlight on the fearless women leaders who inspire us, from serial entrepreneurs—such as Alexa von Tobel and Gregg Renfrew—to the newly minted, like model Lily Aldridge who just launched her own fragrance line. Here, to kick things off, the Veronicas share some words of wisdom on building a business…

On the greatest lesson learned…
Veronica Swanson Beard:
Your biggest failures can become your greatest successes. Be patient with yourself and recognize setbacks as part of the growth process and not as failures.
Veronica Miele Beard: We've learned how to manage time better. We're juggling so many things, so we've got to keep moving and think of the big picture. You can't get caught up in the weeds on something that doesn't impact the greater good of the business.

On the work-life balance…
VMB:
It’s important for me to compartmentalize my life. I have work and then I have family, and I don’t mix the two. Even when the families try to get involved and ask questions, we keep our professional life separate.
VSB: It’s great that our children see how hard we work and how passionate we are about our business. We also value the personal time we offer to our employees. We don’t expect them to sit at a desk from 9 AM to 5 PM because nowadays, work happens everywhere.
