Veronica Miele Beard's Guide to Louisville

DEBUG: cgb/block-vb-two-column

Big hats, bourbon and bets—the Kentucky Derby is back on! Here, Veronica Miele Beard shares her guide to Louisville, Kentucky, and—for those watching from home today—a recipe for a classic mint julep. Bonus points for a silver julep cup.

To Do
The Kentucky Derby! And visit a distillery—there are so many great ones you can tour in Louisville. My favorite is Old Forester Distilling Co. on West Main Street.

To Wear
Hats from Formé Millinery—founder Jenny Pfanenstiel is an artist!

To Eat
Barn8, a former dairy barn converted into a restaurant. Stalls have been turned into private dining rooms and there's a greenhouse where fruits and vegetables are grown on site. And don't forget to pick up some Bourbon brittle and salted bourbon candles for the road. You can buy these everywhere in Louisville, including at the distilleries.

To Sip
Mint julep. Recipe below!
