The Art & Cocktails of @theebouffants' Kendra Dandy
When did the art bug bite?
I’ve just always been artistic, ever since I was little. I ended up pursuing it as a full-time career as a way to escape working retail.
What are some of your art influences and inspirations?
I enjoy mostly Modern Art and art from the Impressionist era forward.
Tell us about your signature style…
I take things I like to draw and combine them, and the style evolves from there over time.
The themes you're drawn to again and again?
Mostly nature, beauty, animals. Lots of pink, red, orange and green.
And about your love of leopard…
I just think leopards are elegant and glamorous… I applied that to the paintings and they evolved over time.
Career advice to the would-be artist?
You have to be ready to constantly do the work and evolve your craft.
When you get the artist equivalent of writer’s block…
I take a break and do something else. Get a snack, watch some TV, maybe even do a chore that’s been put off for a while.
What led to the launch of your other IG accounts on beauty (@paintthatbeauty) and cocktails (@artistichomebartender)?
This happened during quarantine because I really enjoy creating beauty-themed art content and I also had to figure out how to make decent drinks at home, since going to my favorite bars was no longer an option. The accounts were for a more dedicated focus so I could post more about these separate interests rather than sprinkling them into my main feed every once in a while. I also hope they will lead to some business partnerships in those worlds.
