We heart Stephanie Pfriender Stylander—so much so we interviewed the fashion photographer last year. Her newest exhibit, at New York's Staley-Wise Gallery, pairs her work with that of the legendary Louise Dahl-Wolfe, whose imagery embodied the classic elegance of fashion through much of the 20th century. 2 Women of Style: Louise Dahl-Wolfe and Stephanie Pfriender Stylander runs until April 25.
Let's be honest—we don't need a reason to slip into our favorite frocks of the season. Here, our picks for spring scene-stealers…
March 8 — International Women's Day
If there's one book to read on this day, it's this: We Should All Be Feminists by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. Adapted from her 2012 Ted Talk of the same name, this gem of a book redefines feminism for the 21st Century. "The problem with gender is that it prescribes how we should be rather than recognizing how we are," she writes. "Imagine how much happier we would be, how much freer to be our truer individual selves, if we didn't have a weight of gender expectations."
March 9 — Holi
For the Hindu festival of Holi, which celebrates the onset of spring, people head outdoors and throw bright, powdery pigments at each other. It's a marvelous spectacle to behold—and offers a shot of much-needed happiness and laughter during these difficult times.
March 13 — SXSW
Austin, Texas, affirms its reputation as a cultural hotspot with SXSW, a mashup of festivals showcasing the best in emerging film, music, tech and comedy. You can catch everything from Spike Jonze's new documentary on the Beastie Boys to K-pop stars Balming Tiger to a conference on cryptoassets.
