Decor Tips

5 quick recs, straight from VB Nantucket

DEBUG: core/paragraph

Hello, ACK! We've just opened a new outpost in Nantucket, on 11 South Water Street. More than just another VB store, it's our destination for everything you need this summer—or as we like to call it, the ultimate Veronica Beard beach shack—from the perfect hostess gift to fun treasures for yourself and your home. The special ACK edit includes events, too. We'll be hosting intimate parties and exclusive trunk shows throughout these sun-kissed months.

For the interiors, we took design cues from the island itself, coupled with the Veronicas' love of Seventies surf culture. Take a tour and get tips on how to transform your own home into a beach escape, from our interior designer Carolina de Neufville, below.

1. It's All About the Details
Everything in the space ties back to the overarching surf and beach inspiration, from the mirrors framed with seashells to the artwork by photographer Timothy Mollen (available for sale!).

2. …Down to the Books
Those details mentioned above? They extend to the store's book selection, too: The History of Surfing by Matt Warshaw, The Coral Triangle by Chris Leidy, The Stylish Life: Yachting by Kim Kavin… You can find them all on the coffee table at the center, which features sand, shells, nautical charts and other marine motifs encased in resin. Fun fact: Its designer, Joe Twombly, was an original member of Dick Catri’s legendary Hobie surf team.

3. Create a Focal Point
In keeping with the theme, we have a large vintage surfboard as the focal art piece—it's the first thing you see when you enter the store.

4. Rethink the Walls
While the ceiling beams and floors are original to the space, we added a beadboard to the walls to up the beachy vibe.

5. Don't Forget About Upholstery
The sofas in our store are vintage Arne Norell, with the original patterned fabric from the Sixties. But, for your own space, an upholstery update can be transformative—it's a quick and easy way to change the look of your home without committing to a major overhaul.
