"What is our inspiration? We’ll give it to you straight: We’re inspired by and design for real life. We’re mothers, daughters, business women and wives—juggling all at once. We get it. We've walked in your shoes. We know life is what happens when you're busy making other plans.
"After all, it's what happened to us 10 years ago.
Back then, we had left our jobs—Veronica Miele Beard in finance and Veronica Swanson Beard in fashion—to raise our families. We're sisters-in-law, married to brothers, and often found ourselves at family gatherings talking about styling and trends, what we loved, wanted and needed, and what was missing from the market. Men have their suits—it’s easy for them to get dressed and out the door. We wanted to create the same ease for women and decided on the concept of the dickey jacket, launching Veronica Beard in 2010 with seven jackets on a rack.
"We called it the Wonder Woman cape. As busy moms, we were always doing the costume change on the go; it was our answer to instant chic, instant transformation, instant confidence—if you’re dressed well, you'll look and feel better. Through the years, we thoughtfully built on that idea designing one must-have MVP after another. Here we are, a decade later.
"But we're dedicating this fall 2020 VB Edit issue to a different type of MVP. This anniversary issue is our homage to the doers, the makers, the mothers, the movers and shakers—the real MVPs in our lives.
"Because at the end of the day, you’re what inspires us—the women who don't give up, who chase after their passions, who are out there, getting things done. It’s about your 9 to 5, your morning to midnight, all the different ways you live your life. We design clothes to be loved—and lived in.
"Thank you for being with us through this journey. Here's to the next 10 years." — Veronica & Veronica
