City Guide: Meg Biram on Washington D.C.

April 24, 2017

Spring has long been one of our favorite times to visit Washington D.C. (hello, cherry blossoms!) and we're heading there this week to visit our friends at Intermix in Georgetown. Ahead of our visit, we asked founder/editor of MegBiram.com (one of our favorite style blogs) and artist Meg Biram to share her favorite spots in the city. From where to stay to where to eat, check out Meg's picks!

Describe D.C. in Three Words:

Smart. Clean. Evolving.

Favorite Neighborhood:

This is a loaded question as I'm currently looking to buy, but we live in the 14th Street area and LOVE it. My husband bikes to work, we can walk to all the delicious restaurants, and we have an amazing view of the Washington Monument and Capitol Building from our rooftop!

Hotel You Recommend:

DC has so many amazing hotels it's hard to pick. But you can't go wrong with the St. Regis, Hay Adams, The Rosewood, or The Jefferson. If you are looking for something more modern Mason & Rook or The Line is about to open.

3 Must-Visit Restaurants:

This is like picking a child, so I think I'll have to say some delicious places I've been to recently.

Le Diplomate (1601 14th Street NW) is a no-fail french spot with a large patio. Order the trout with brown butter.

Compass Rose(1346 T Street NW) is delicious food from around the world — get theKhachapuri and the brussels sprouts and you will NOT be sorry.

And since I went there yesterday — Comet Ping Pong (5037 Connecticut Ave NW) for pizza! Oh but there is so much more…

Best Place to Grab a Cocktail:

Late night nightcap after a long dinner, Quarter & Glory (2017 14th Street NW).

Morning Coffee Go-To:

The Wydown or Dolcezza.

Meg Biram and Salt & Sundry.

Favorite Places to Shop:

For clothes: Redeem on 14th or in Georgetown there is Rag & Bone, AllSaints, Intermix, Cusp, and Club Monaco.
For home goods: Salt & Sundry and Little Leaf.

Spot to Get Pampered:

Mani-pedi at the Saloon or the spa at Four Seasons in Georgetown or the Mandarin Oriental.

Tourist Spots You Still Love to Visit:

The monuments, the White House, and the Capitol still get me. But also the amazing museums & galleries we have here constantly amazes me. The National Gallery of Art, the Hirshhorn, The National Portrait Gallery, the Renwick Gallery, the Phillips Collection, so many.
