VB interior designer Carolina de Neufville returns to share pro tips inspired by our new San Francisco store, located on 2241 Fillmore Street. Fun fact: All the vintage brass swans throughout are a nod to Veronica Swanson Beard, who's originally from the Bay Area. 

1. Create a Warm Environment
To inject a sense of coziness and lived-in comfort in what is a vast, narrow space with high ceilings, we combined rich fabrics and warm colors. The combination never fails.

2. Mix Your Patterns
We mixed fabric patterns, including Schumacher’s Lotus Garden and a golden brown tiger print, to create a warm, eclectic environment. 

3. Make Use of Natural Light
Our San Francisco store is quite long and the light from the windows can only go so far. Since we had a skylight in the rear, we took down the walls and the low ceiling from the fitting rooms to allow the natural light to shine throughout the back of the store.

4. Keep Things Balanced
To work with the store's high ceilings, we hung oversized vintage copper pendants low over the tables.

5. Art Matters
Art brings everything together. We knew we needed scale and rich colors, so we partnered with Voltz Clarke Gallery and are featuring abstract large-scale paintings from artist Heather Chantos. We are obsessed with her work!
