#MAKEITHAPPEN
Cyndi Ramirez-Fulton, Founder of ChillhouseIf you've ever been to Chillhouse in New York, you'll know that it's aptly named. The highly-Instagrammable spot is a modern self-care destination with full spa services, a pastel color scheme and a wellness cafe, too. Once you enter, you're instantly in chill mode.
Meet the founder, Cyndi Ramirez-Fulton—she knows the value of good R&R. In addition to aforementioned slice of sublime paradise, Ramirez-Fulton launched a lifestyle site named—what else?—The Chill Times, which offers a delightfully fun and edgy take on your typical wellness hub, and a line of self-care goods, including Chill candles, oils and press-on nail art. She's also a partner at Den Hospitality, which has given us Bandits (where we shot our recent campaign) and The Garret Bars, among others. Take a look inside any of her projects and you'll see one common thread—each space has major personality and style.
And so does Cyndi. She's refreshingly honest, funny, and candid in our chat with her—a self-awarenesss we think might have something to do with her success. Read on for more with the wife, mother, and young CEO now.
My Hustle
Got me this far and will take me even further.
Not wanting to be someone's employee.
A day of not checking emails and getting all my self-care moments in.
Look inward and visualize myself in that moment of doubt. If I'm happy with the visualization, I know my answer.
Covid was up there. I leaned into one of my greatest qualities: my transparency and vulnerability. I spoke honestly with my team and my community and I asked people to show up for us. And they did.
how i make it happen
3 morning musts…
Hangs with Hendrix. Matcha latte. Quick stretches or gym.
3 life hacks…
Dresser separators, Dorothee Becker wall organizer, Chill Tips (10-minute manicures? Yes, please).
3 secret work weapons…
Being a good delegator, Slack (not a secret but I can't live without it), Mondays are for catching up on emails and planning for the week, Tuesdays/Wednesdays/Thursdays for Zoom and calls, Friday for the creative projects and photoshoots.
Personal talisman…
My home. I swear my building has brought my husband and me good juju. We've been there for almost 8 years and have moved 3 times within the building.
Best advice received…
I feel like this changes constantly, but the one that changed my life is when someone told me I need to start working on my personal brand. This was many years ago before I even had my own businesses, of course. In a world obsessed with career, I truly feel it's important to look out for yourself and share moments of your life outside of your business or job. Share your personality and build your career this way. It'll take you places you've never dreamed of. It has for me, at least.
my style
My new vintage suede fringe jacket that I found in Paris.
Stop trying so hard.
Like a power b***h.
my recharge
Really into JayZ radio on Spotify right now. Feeling a bit of a dance bug these days. Can you say Y2K? I'm reading It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover and I am binging a lot of shows. Favorties include Million Dollar Listing, Only Murders in the Building, and Nine Perfect Strangers.
Chill Tips, Chill Face and Body Oils, Ceremonia's Guava Rescue spray for detangling, and Laura Mercier foundation.
Tickle my baby and drink wine with my husband in front of the TV.
I've gotten really good at putting frozen pizza in the oven. Does that count?
Bozoma Saint John is such a powerhouse and is a great example to young WOC on climbing that corporate ladder.
